Did you know that...

Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region (GASK) is one of the most important centres for modern and contemporary art in the Czech Republic. It is located in the historic premises of the former Jesuit College in Kutná Hora. As an art museum, its core mission is to collect, preserve, and strategically develop a collection of both Czech and international art. The GASK collections provide an exceptionally comprehensive and high-quality overview of Czech visual art from the late 19th century to the present day.
GASK offers much more than exhibitions. Visitors can explore the popular visual playrooms and children’s corner, relax in the gallery café or at the Skleník bistro, and enjoy the extensive gardens surrounding the complex. These gardens invite visitors to take a peaceful walk and offer beautiful views of St. Barbara’s Cathedral.

The monumental interior layout of the Jesuit College provides generous space for GASK’s diverse and carefully curated exhibition programme. A key project is the permanent exhibition Through the Labyrinth. This installation presents a thematic selection of artworks from the GASK collection, spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition is conceived as a symbolic journey: as visitors move through the space, they follow a path resembling an archetypal pilgrimage, encountering artworks that reflect different stages of discovery, self-reflection, and identity.
Alongside the permanent exhibition Through the Labyrinth, GASK also presents a rich programme of rotating exhibitions and projects. Gallery IV hosts major large-scale exhibitions, both thematic and monographic. The Projectroom and Experimental Space on the ground floor offer insight into the work of younger contemporary artists. Whitebox is dedicated to creators working at the intersection of design and fine art, while Blackbox focuses primarily on prints, drawings, and photography, often from the gallery’s own collections.
The programme Beyond Printmaking explores the dialogue between printmaking and other artistic disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and digital media. The Gallery by the Library programme is closely connected to the activities of the gallery’s specialised art library. Within the permanent exhibition, the Silverbox space presents video and installation interventions and, on a seasonal basis, showcases a unique example of medieval manuscript illumination from the collection — the Kutná Hora Illumination.
