Did you know that...
Italian Court is one of the most important historical landmarks in Kutná Hora and is inseparably connected with the period of the town’s greatest prosperity, when coins for the entire Kingdom of Bohemia were minted here.
Originally a royal mint as well as the residence of the monarch, founded by King Wenceslaus II, it represented the center of economic power in the medieval kingdom.
The present appearance of the complex is the result of a sensitive reconstruction that has preserved its historical character while making its story accessible to modern visitors. The exhibitions inside the building introduce visitors to the process of coin minting, the life of the royal court, and the administration of the town. The authentic interiors and underground cellars evoke the atmosphere of a time when decisions about the wealth of the kingdom were made here.
Italian Court is therefore not merely an architectural monument, but a place where one can closely explore the economic and political history of the country, as well as the everyday life of medieval Kutná Hora.
