Did you know that...

The Bílek Villa was built in the early 20th Century in Symbolist style using the language of Art Nouveau architecture. Its architect was an important sculptor and graphic artist, after whom the villa is named. Inside we find authentically preserved interiors together with a studio and gallery.

The whole project was permeated by the idea of a grain field - the floorplan of the building represents the trace of a scythe in a grain field, the stone columns were stylised stalks and ears and the field was symbolized by the flat roof of the building - the first of its kind in Prague. This primary concept also pervaded the interior on the carved doors and wrought door handles.
